What would parents like to really say to teachers?
I recently read this article and I believe there is much truth to the author's message. Now, it's your turn. Can other teachers identify with this issue? Do parents identify with this issue?http://www.cnn.com/2011/09/06/living/teachers-want-to-tell-parents/index.html
This is a thought provoking article; many parents today defend their children even if they know their child is at fault. Many of the teachers I work with have 1 or 2 parents that are able to keep them jumping. I hate to think of the idea that teachers give good grades to avoid conflicts with parents, and it's also unsettling to think about good educators choosing to leave the educational field because of parents. How can we change the tide?
ReplyDeleteIt is a shame that their are good educators leaving the field because of relationships with parents. I feel that strong administration is the key to avoiding this problem.
ReplyDeleteI can relate to the article because I try to inform parents when their child is having difficult in class. A lot of times the parent will tell the teacher what they want to hear but they usually never follow thru with what they say they are going to do. So teachers get frustrated and give up. The problems are usually resolved with great adminstators who will stand behind their teachers..
